Bachelors of Art - Education

I credit this significant time period as the essential foundation for many of the valuable skills I possess today, particularly in areas such as Time Management and Multi-Tasking Skills. Additionally, it fostered my ability to be Flexible, adapt to various situations, and engage in Fast-Paced Problem Solving. This experience also marked the beginning of my development in Leadership Skills, which continues to evolve in Education today.

Master of Arts - Educational Leadership + Principal License

This May 2025 I will graduate with my Masters of Art in Educational Leadership (LEAD). At this time I will also be eligible for my Intitial Principal’s License.

The LEAD Graduate Program at UCCS develops leaders through expanded self-knowledge and worldview. Graduates learn how to guide an educational team as they integrate recommendations from research with an assessment of the needs of a school community and create a plan for student success, explore the political and social implications of schooling and the educational requirements of a diverse, democratic, multicultural society, discover how technology can be utilized to enhance management and communication, develop school management competencies and leadership strategies, and enhance further leaders to ignite and inspire others within education.

Navigating AI Integration in Modern Classrooms

During my master’s program I had the pleasure of working on a research project centered on educators’ perceptions and feeling about AI in Education. As part of the study I created and administered a Classroom Teacher Survey. This survey asked teachers to reflect on how they currently felt about AI in their teaching, how their leadership could better support them in using the tools and applications available to them, and what they felt the future of AI in teaching would be.

The results were quiet similar and a few distinct themes emerged. The first was that teachers in general, felt optimistic and even excited about using AI in their teaching. The second was apprehension about data privacy and age-appropriate usage and content. The third was the need for targeted, on-going and hands on training to familiarize and practice the use of AI.

With the third trend in mind, I worked with my administration at the building level to help create professional development opprotunities for teachers in which they had app-targeted exposure with time for hands-on exploration and time to share with one another. This is an ongoing series at my build now and it is so rewarding to see how teachers are embrassing the use of AI in their teaching and classrooms.

In addition to the professional development series, I have also created an AI Discussion Board with monthly AI application highlights from different staff members. It is a place for staff to gather and collaborate around the use of AI in their teaching.
